My name is Gabriella Kaposi, midwife, independent childbirth educator, and birth doula.

Since the age of 14, I knew I wanted to become a midwife and I consciously prepared for this career. However, life took me in a slightly different direction, and I worked in a nursing home for several years – something I have never regretted. 🙂

As a girl from the Balaton region, I moved to Budapest, where I had the opportunity to work in my profession at a hospital. Looking back, I realize I knew very little about natural birth at the time. I thought everything was fine the way it was, based on what I learned at college.

When I became pregnant with my son, unfortunately, I ended up in the operating room during the pushing phase – so I experienced both sides. My daughter was born weighing almost 5 kg, which meant I had to let go of the possibility of VBAC.

During my postpartum period, I decided not to return to the hospital. That’s when I enrolled in the Békés Doula Training, which turned out to be one of the best decisions of my life, where I practically relearned everything. I am now preparing to become a midwife, but I still have a long way to go. I am continuously learning, striving to improve, and looking forward to the time when it will be my turn.

As a doula, I regularly accompany births in both hospitals and home settings, in Budapest and within a 60 km radius. I am passionate about childbirth preparation and preparing fathers, and I conduct group, individual, and online childbirth classes in Budapest and Vecsés.

In my childbirth preparation classes, I aim for the golden mean. I believe it’s important to talk about interventions, and I’m not against them if they are truly necessary.
